The Rite of Jonathan Russell

We have the opportunity to play almost entire The Rite of Spring arranged for woodwind quintet, being all orchestral parts summarized in five voices.

The arranger chose six instruments (seven if we count the A clarinet): the five of the ensemble as well as the piccolo, doing the arrangement without G flute, english horn, bass clarinet or Eb clarinet, instruments that have a very relevant part in the orchestral piece as soloist and could be played by us.

This will condition all colours and registers of the ensemble, and will make change important treatment of the voices and solos.

How it will be done is the main theme of this part of the work. For that, we will compare the orchestral score with the arrangement score, looking for similarities and differences, instrumental and sound limitations and how they will be solved.
