DANIEL ORTUÑO GELARDO

This part of the work deals with the most important works written for woodwind quintet between 1850 and 1950. Because of the huge volume of compositions all over the history we chose these hundred years because we think they are the most outstanding and interesting years for the ensemble and generally chamber music. Not only music is described; composer's life and historical context are explained too.

These analyses have the purpose of provoke changes on the performance of each one of the works. Organized in four 25-year parts, we can value the evolution of the musical writing for this ensemble.

20 main works of Taffanel, Nielsen, Hindemiith, Arnold, Ligetti among others are explained on this part.
